.@alifrance5 is a working mum. She knows how important early education is for children, and what a difference Labor’s cheaper child care plan will make for families. I want her to be part of the team that delivers it – because she’s on your side. https://t.co/HwAbg9f4FE
She’s a charity worker. She’s a disability advocate. And now I’ve asked @alifrance5 to stand to be Labor’s candidate in the seat of Dickson.
Ali has spent her life fighting for people. Now she’s ready to take that fight to our nation’s Parliament – because she’s on your side. https://t.co/XlUJd0ieDx
Every Australian worker deserves the safety net of the Australian minimum wage.
That’s the whole point. It’s the bare minimum.
The reality is that workers in the gig economy aren’t getting a fair deal.
We've got people earning $10 an hour with no sick leave and no security. https://t.co/msvGBfnnno
Tomorrow, the aged care royal commission hands down its final report.
This is our chance to do what’s required and fix our broken aged care system.
But so long as the Morrison Government continues to dodge responsibility for aged care, nothing will change.
Scott Morrison's record on aged care:
- $1.7 billion cut
- Nearly 11,000 deaths while waiting for home care in the past year
- 685 deaths from coronavirus during the pandemic
- Chronic understaffing, malnutrition and neglect
How can anyone trust this PM to fix aged care?
It was a privilege to speak with Labor women staffers at the Elizabeth Reid Network last night. Women should be in all the places where decisions are made – and I’m so proud of the Labor women who are making a difference every day in Parliament House. https://t.co/dNHHKdRniB
Making things in Australia = jobs for Australians.
Labor has a plan for a future made in Australia – one that backs the smarts of our people with secure, well-paying jobs.
We're on your side. https://t.co/5ebn9F6y0T
Public confidence in the vaccine is essential. That's why I rolled up my sleeves when asked by the public health experts.
When it’s your turn, get the vaccination.
They’re safe. They’re effective. And they'll save lives. https://t.co/lGq2f6wP4l
These are things worth fighting for.
Having a job used to mean something. It gave you security. It gave you dignity. But these days, there aren’t enough jobs, there aren’t enough hours – and for too many, the jobs that are there barely even cover the basics. https://t.co/ZcFflAdc8R
At the start of the pandemic, casual workers lost their jobs eight times faster than those in permanent jobs.
A million were excluded from JobKeeper – a deliberate decision by the Morrison Government.
Here's my message to all those workers left behind:
Labor is on your side. https://t.co/Vr8n4Fg8qH
Labor pays tribute to the enormous contribution of Sir Michael Somare, and expresses our condolences to the people of Papua New Guinea and to Sir Michael’s family and loved ones.
Joint statement with @AlboMP and @PatConroy1: https://t.co/5HWOfVPOST
Opposition Leader @AlboMP has touted the ALP’s gender equality policies while highlighting a “power imbalance” between men and women contributing to gender inequality in the Australian workforce.
We’ve seen to many examples to exploitation in the retail supply chain. We need to focus on how we can become fairer and how we can ensure that workers have dignity and respect: @albomp https://t.co/NPOAGO0T79
The racially motivated attack on a First Nations woman is another instance of a disconcerting trend in right wing extremism and white supremacy in Australia. We cannot brush this aside or be complacent. We must remain vigilant and challenge this in our community.
I wouldn’t ask anyone to do something I’m not prepared to do.
If you have concerns, talk to your treating doctors. I did and I am confident it is safe to take the vaccine.
Do it for yourself, do it for the community.
Do it for Australia. https://t.co/AGpryX8dPo
I photobombed @AlboMP’s meeting this morning for 2 reasons.
1. Childcare is a social and economic imperative and I want every parent to be able to afford it.
2. @AliciaPayneMP’s son Paul is awesome. https://t.co/m9sD0mjfsh
It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with @AlboMP@AmandaRishworth, @AliciaPayneMP & some local parents this morning. Can you guess what we discussed? Hint: The greatest social & economic reform in our grasp.... affordable, high quality early childhood education & care!!! https://t.co/EiVo2lqRpF
If we want to see real and lasting progress on Closing the Gap, First Nations people need to be placed at the centre of decision making on the issues that affect us. #ClosingTheGaphttps://t.co/k3FHwHWgui
