And expect Thomas Partey to keep on shooting when he gets back to Arsenal. 2 goals in 2 games in the international break. Yes, some will hit the stands but there is a thunderbolt incoming soon...

Senegal are the first team through to the final stage of World Cup qualifying in Africa - ie the Play-Offs (which are going to be epic by the way). They beat Namibia 3-1 today.

Very important 1 nil win for Ghana against Zimbabwe. 2 victories out of 2 now for returning head coach Milovan Rajevac. So now South Africa need to beat Ethiopia later today to return to the top of Group G. Some battle to make play offs in that group.

Huge day in one of the toughest groups in World Cup qualifying in Africa: Only group winners makes the play-offs. South Africa are top by 1 pt with Ghana in second. Today, Ghana v Zimbabwe, then it’s South Africa v Ethiopia. All building nicely to Ghana v South Africa next month

Egypt - who sacked a head coach last month - take a giant leap towards the World Cup play-offs in Africa... They beat Libya 3 nil tonight to move 4 points clear at the top of their group with 2 games to go. One more win will be enough for Carlos Queiroz’s side.

This group! Only the group winners in World Cup qualifying in Africa progress to the Play-offs. So one of Ivory Coast or Cameroon will miss out & won their 4th games today. They meet on 16th November in Cameroon in their final match of the group stage.

Some 90s football nostalgia at the Estonia v Wales game. 2 of former Derby keeper Mart Poom’s sons involved. One playing for Estonia. One singing the Estonian national anthem pre match!

World Cup qualifying in Africa is so competitive... Teams have played 3 or 4 matches so far in the group stage & only Senegal and Morocco have a 100% record. The final matches in the group stages are going to be drama... And then there’s the Play-Offs 😮

Didier Deschamps’ trophy collection is bigger than most clubs. As a player AND manager I make it: 6 domestic top flight league titles (& 1 Serie B), 6 domestic cups (not inc Super Cups), 2 Champions Lges, 1 intercontinental Cup, 2 World Cups, 1 Euros & now the Nations League.

Crucial win for Ghana - 3-1 home victory over Zimbabwe. Thomas Partey and Andre Ayew with second half goals after the away side equalised. So: 1. South Africa 7 pts 2. Ghana 6 pts Group G is going to go right down to the wire.

Spain-Sweden, Croatia-Russia, Portugal-Serbia, Italy-Switzerland, Netherlands-Norway ... assuming all goes as it should, that's a set of pretty mouthwatering shoot-outs for automatic qualification next month.

A loss born from a very poor first half. Much improved second 45 though. Brings Japan right back into it but the @Socceroos are still three points clear in the automatic spots with the toughest game out of the way & without having played a game at home. You'd take that. #JPNvAUS

FT: Japan 2-1 Australia. Deserved win for Japan, now just 3 points behind the Socceroos and right back in the hunt for automatic qualification.

Interesting application of offside in the #UEFANationsFinal for Kylian Mbappe's winner. It's a decision which is correct in law to allow the goal, but one which many will feel should be disallowed in the spirit of the game. Mbappe is clearly offside when the pass is played.
