A lot of stuff has went really well for me over the past 10 years. This injury brought on some much needed humility. It’ll be good for me. I’m not gonna talk shit about doctors again, either. My surgeon praying over me before he ordered me under & went to work was humbling.

The nerve block from the tendon repair wore off at about 2am last night. This is serious stuff. Humbling pain. A ton of nausea. Able to stick with ibuprofen so far. I really feel for people who have had a lot of this work done from a serious accident.

If you want to be happy / successful you should accept something as fact: People don't change. Bad customers don't get better. Poor employees don't improve. Unreliable people don't become reliable. It isn't your job to try to change people. Make decisions accordingly!

The best entrepreneurs I know work in spirts. They’ll kick serious ass for 6 months and feast on the winnings for 6 years.

Some self storage customers are unbanked and want to pay by cash or check. You don't want these customers because they're 5x as likely to be late on rent, damage your property or abandon the unit. Only taking credit card / ACH is a great way to weed out the bad tenants.

A tenant who is late on rent and disrespects your property almost always continues to be late on rent and disrespectful to your property. Playing games with these people is always a net loss as a business owner. Allow them the privilege of being someone else’s tenant ASAP.

Surgeon said my tendon was 6 inches apart. Brutal. Personal injury attorneys all over my DMs with claims of 6 fig payouts above medical. There is zero chance I go after this small business with a suit. Not screwing over somebody’s livelihood bc of a freak thing. Gtfo!

Just woke up. Surgery was great success. Will be back better than ever in 8 weeks! They said I can’t make any business deals for at least 4 hours so if you wanna take advantage of me now is the time.

What is one product under $250 that has impacted your life the most?

I hate to be a buzzkill but I’m gonna say it: Set more realistic goals. Stop dreaming big and trying to change the world. Do common things uncommonly well.

Most good business opportunities are disguised as a bunch of hard, stressful, uncomfortable work.

Twitter is getting tougher as a content creator in the business / real estate / self help space. Engagement with my shitposts is up 3x. Engagement with my real estate / business stuff is down 75%. My timeline is filled with shitposts too and I’m not seeing the good stuff.

Owning real estate in great markets with positive demographic trends is great. But new construction will just keep coming, relentlessly. Better hope those people keep moving when cost of living and traffic explode!

Pro tip: If someone in your family offers you a bit of help ($) to buy that first investment, start that first business, buy that house... Don't be a stubborn, proud, broke idiot. Accept their help and be a successful, humble, rich non-idiot.

You can't find real "community" on the internet. Shut down the xbox, log out of social media, and turn off Netflix. Go out to dinner. To shows. Events. Drinks. The older you get the more content you are to "stay in" and the more uncomfortable making friends gets. FIGHT THIS.

Each additional founding partner you get is another mouth to feed and another massive hit to your upside. Chose wisely.

How to disrupt small business: Use Jobber, Ring Central, Salesforce, GSuite, Slack, Zoom, Docusign, and Gusto. Don’t take cash. Process quotes online. Employ a fully remote back office. That’s it. Oh and answer the phone when a customer / vendor / partner calls.
